Matthews Class has been learning about Matariki, the Maori, New Year. One of the activities that people loved to do was weaving. They wove baskets to collect the kumara and other vegetables.
We are learning to weave too. It was fun trying to make stars and simple mats by weaving the strips of paper and string.
Bullying -Free week
This week our class learned about how to stop bullying and how we can help if someone is bullied.
We made posters to inform our readers about what we learned
Be a buddy not a bully!

Matthews Class is enjoying all the Gymnastic sessions we have been having this term.

Check out what else we have been learning to do down below.
"We were making a star shape with our whole body and it was amazing!" - Sativa
"I am rolling on the mats and I jumping on the mat to practice my handstands." - Fatima
"I was jumping my legs up high to make a handstand." - Flo
"I was doing a forward roll and rolling down the triangle. I tucked my head to look at my tummy. I pushed with my feet." - Moungaafi
Whanake with our Kindy Buddies
We love it when our Kindy buddies from Hillsborough Kindergarten come to visit. We especially love to teach them how to play with all the special activities that Mrs Jacob has for us. We learn how to how to work our finger muscles and to share with our buddies.
Class Artist inspired Art
During our art time, we have been learning about how our class artist Clare Matthews creates her art.
We learned that our artist likes to use motifs to create images that are different, and lots of colour to make beautiful and vibrant art!
Take a look at how well we have created art in her style!
Junior Motat Trip
On Friday 22nd February, our junior team had an exciting fun-filled day.
We were out and about in Motat.
Learning about flight in the aviation hall and exploring all the wonderful things inside the Above and Beyond exhibit.
Our favourite part of the trip was when we got to create our own plane with our new knowledge of the 4 forces that help things fly (lift, thrust, drag, and weight), and testing them out.
We have learned so much from our very amazing trip and we can't wait to go back to school and tell everyone all the great things we found out about flight!
Buddy Reading at Hay Park School
This year Hay Park School is doing something different in the morning.
We are and will be reading almost every morning to a buddy from our buddy class!
This means we each get a turn to read to someone and be read too.
We are all loving this buddy reading morning and are enjoying all the great stories that are being read.
Check out some of our fantastic buddy readers below!
